Cat Sim: More Chow?
A downloadable game
CONCEPT:
Help a mischievous kitten get its next meal!
WHAT WENT WRONG:
The kinematic controller I used is complex and I have to reach into many areas of the code to make it do things that I want. In retrospect, I can benefit greatly from listener-subscriber systems, which I will try to get used to in next week's game by learning event driven systems.
WHAT WENT RIGHT:
The game is better and more polished than my previous game of the week. This comes from the realization that my future games should aim for a higher fidelity so that I can be competitive in game development
WHAT I LEARNED:
The goal of this week's project was to learn animation and Inverse Kinematic. I got to learn a bit of animation but forgo Inverse Kinematic because the game takes a different direction during the development process. But this shift is useful since I was able to learn about level designing and also many things like playing with the different types of controllers.
WHAT I PLAN TO LEARN NEXT WEEK:
For next week, I will like to explore the sims and make a game similar to it, with a focus on communications between the sims and objects. This is to get used to event driven systems and also to learn about building small mechanics that interacts with other mechanics.

This game was super fun. Though I did have a bit of a hard time with the controls but that is probably just me. I think everyone else I saw play it did really well with the controls.
The levels look amazing. Great job on the level design.
The character design is great along with the animation. I felt like a cat pouncing around all the levels.
Amazing work this week!
It's great to see how well this project turned out! It's especially impressive with the scope of the city level.
In terms of level design, the length of the levels could be extended to allow more time for the mechanics to breathe. Also, seeing the boat in the distance, made me want to explore the inside of it, and I think it was a missed opportunity.
Regardless, this is a huge step forward for getting something out that has a lot of polish, good work!
